Zambia International Trade Fair improves show premises
THE Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF)
has said it has embarked on an exercise to improve the outlook of the
show premises in order to improve the attendance.
The improved outlook will also attract more exhibitors to help bring economic prosperity.
ZITF General Manager Alex Mayeya said this in a statement released to ZANIS in Ndola today.
Mr
Mayeya said ZITF has commenced the demolition of old structures to put
up new ones as it begins the process of improving the show
infrastructure and modernizing its premises.
Mr
Mayeya further said plans for 2015 include the creation of additional
stands and exhibition places adding that works to create an addition 52
stands in the Tom Mtine square have commenced and will be completed
before the show starts.
He
explained that a new terrazzo flooring is also being constructed in the
redesigned international hall to improve its outlook at an estimated
cost of K300, 000.
Mr
Mayeya said patching of roads within the show area will be done to
minimize dust emissions during the show and that molasses will also be
applied on some roads that usually emit dust.
Mr
Mayeya said vending will be restricted to designated areas as it has
been noted that during previous shows vending was uncontrolled and
created an almost chaotic environment.
He further said an entertainment platform is also being constructed to facilitate provision of more entertainment.
He
explained that other measures being implemented included the closure of
some unusable stands such as the Levy Mwanawasa hall to construct a new
exhibition hall.
“The
Levy Mwanawasa hall accommodated the educational stands and for this
reason it is an important area given the need to promote improvement to
the education sector for the growth of our economy. In this vein
alternative measures have been taken to accommodate the education
establishments in other areas,” he said.
Mr Mayeya also appealed to stand owners to strive to improve the
outlook of their stands by either constructing or rehabilitating
existing stands.
Mr
Mayeya thanked ZESCO Limited and Pensions Insurance Authority for
constructing new stands in the new show grounds this year and encouraged
other companies to emulate the two organizations.
“We
also wish to appeal to exhibitors to pay the participation fee in good
time before the show. This will allow ZITF to complete the preparations
for the show and with less haste. We further encourage other
organizations and companies that have not exhibited at the trade fair to
come through and participate,” he said.
Mr Mayeya said the show provides a good platform for networking and acquisition of new business.
